some fundamental rights

Filed under: Poems — spiritfatherson @ 2:52 pm

the right to rest
the right to doze
the right to refreshment
the right to shower
the right to show off
the right to ride
the right to bounce [back!]
the right to recovery
the right to uncovery
the right to unwrite
the right to be wrong

all wrongs to be righted
trumpet will sound at the last judgement
write to poems
the right to a musical instrument
the right to peace for the neighbours
the right to musick freely
the right to silence
the right to communicate
the right to grandiosity
the right to write
the right to record
the right to communicative simplicity (or complexity)
the right to baroque sentence construction
the right to err
[precautionary principle]
capitalism is gung-ho

everyone is responsible and responsibility is not a competition
listen to your tummy
the right to appreciate beauty
the right to a regular blood pressure check
the right to respectfully listened to

cyclists, pedestrians, motorists and the law

Filed under: Poems — spiritfatherson @ 6:08 am

I – the laws of physics

I am the scapegoat

I don’t want to work

I don’t want to play

I’m the man you love to hate

I’m the man you need to hate

I’m the target for your venom

my chin is ripe for blows

and I’ll happily have my glasses smashed

just so that she knows

that you hate me

and you want me

dead

you want to see me fry

not just this very afternoon

but for all eternity

that’s the nastiest thing you’ve got to say

well Milton had you down and we saw your paranoia

saw through the madness

and the envy

and the fear

and the hatred we experienced

for all that we hold dear

and you’ve got to understand us

and you’ve got to us forgive

because we’ve done it

and we didn’t wanna do it

now we found it

and we’re sorry for those bastards we funded in the past

and if we can spike their guns we’ll do it

like we’d like to do for all of you

and we want to travel heavy

but we’d love to travel light

in the garden of our future freedom

and the soft light rains and mists of night

and we dream of our futures

and we try to make it real

and we love each one and all of you

like we promised when we started

and we kept our promise of love

however hard it be

love to the world,

to thee

the “battle of cable street”: 70th anniversary

Filed under: Uncategorized — spiritfatherson @ 9:08 am

many of us living here in the east end still have this historical event embedded in our consciousness.

google for it soon; the wayback’s down and winston “smith” won’t be around to rewrite history for you forever

there’s an event later today in commemoration if you still value you that oral tradition…

sf [me] does, but i probably won’t make it in person: i’ve been up all night (again, my own idiocy, thanks for asking) and i’m going for a hardearned rest. many adventures to report in the fullness of time, but for now i can report that it looked to be a nice peaceful party when i stopped by earlier yesterday to observe the setup.

lots of hobbyhorses!

seemed harmless enough.

remember that, in the absence of any more overarching morality that the correct course of action in every situation is that which results in least work for my own profession.

as a good (?) popperian i’d be more interested in posts that attempt to refute the above, but all comments on the matter (as ever) welcome. try not to be tedious… i’m a busy man :-)

o. and don’t forget to study the meaning of the word “idiot”

better deal with the animal interface immediately.

yes, i am a human, and that does look like a dog in costume.

what can i say? it’s one of those internet things.

it’s not the picture i would have chosen myself at the outset of all this, but a friend happened to send it, and, well, it sparks an/some issue(s) does it not?

no postcard required!
